Safety Hazard Analysis

Safety Consulting Engineers, Inc. has evaluated a multitude of products, process systems and industrial plants for virtually every conceivable safety hazard. Our methods are both thorough and effective. They involve the inspection of materials, stimuli and process effects in which a great number of factors are sensed, analyzed and controlled. Potential hazards are evaluated and categorized as flow, environmental, component-function or system-contamination failures. Initial qualitative assessments are expanded with in-depth quantitative Engineering Risk and Hazard Analysis wherein all relevant in-process energy sources and potential threshold initiation levels are determined through engineering calculations and material response testing.

After a scope of these hazards is determined, we utilized the method the most appropriate to the given situation - Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). In this way, potential hazards are clearly identified in terms of incident probabilities, event frequencies and risk values. Critical hazards are pinpointed based on a established criteria, and corrective actions are then proposed for the removal of their potential effects. These remedies may involve changes in system design, altering operational procedures, or further education of the personnel. Finally, the reductions in risk values due to incorporation of corrective actions are determined and the new risk values are presented for overall assessment.
